How are Bolton Kits different?

They are (with some exceptions) innards-only kits: broadly speaking, you make the case and I supply the bits that go into it, plus the drawing and instructions which you need to make the case.
The advantage is lower price and shipping cost.

Contents of Bolton Kits shows what items are included in all kits.
Specialised items are listed on each instrument page.

The simpler kits have been designed for ease of construction and require only elementary woodworking ability - e.g. sawing square, putting in nails and screws straight. Any extra skill needed is mentioned on the page of the kit concerned.

Special features of Bolton Kits.
The Bolton jack is similar in weight and action to a traditional jack, but is fully adjustable and unaffected by atmospheric conditions.
The keyboard is another unique Bolton feature which saves you time and money. It works in exactly the same way as an historical keyboard but is quick and easy for you to put together.
The plectra are pre-voiced, that is, they need no shaping as a rule.
The strings are supplied on wide diameter reels, making them easy to handle.
